Biological Activity for Hematoxylin

Hematoxylin is a dye used to stain cell nuclei. Hematoxylin is commonly combined with eosin for H&E histological staining and is a component of the Papanicolaou stain used in cytology. Hematoxylin can be used with other fixatives to stain muscle striations, fibrin, myelin and elastin. Can also be used for H&E staining of intact tissues.

Preparing Stock Solutions for Hematoxylin

The following data is based on the product molecular weight 302.28. Batch specific molecular weights may vary from batch to batch due to the degree of hydration, which will affect the solvent volumes required to prepare stock solutions.

Select a batch to recalculate based on the batch molecular weight:
Concentration / Solvent Volume / Mass 1 mg 5 mg 10 mg
0.03 mM 110.27 mL 551.37 mL 1102.73 mL
0.15 mM 22.05 mL 110.27 mL 220.55 mL
0.3 mM 11.03 mL 55.14 mL 110.27 mL
1.5 mM 2.21 mL 11.03 mL 22.05 mL

Molarity Calculator

Calculate the mass, volume, or concentration required for a solution.

*When preparing stock solutions always use the batch-specific molecular weight of the product found on the vial label and CoA (available online).
