Cat.No. 7046 - 1,6-Hexanediol | C6H14O2 | CAS No. 629-11-8
Description: Tool for probing liquid-liquid phase separation
Purity: ≥98%
Literature (1)

Biological Activity

Widely used tool to probe liquid-liquid phase separation (LLPS) in cells. Disrupts hydrophobic interaction-induced phase separation assemblies both in vitro and in vivo. Dissolves LLPS condensates, such as P bodies, but not solid-like condensates, such as protein aggregates and cytoskeletal assemblies.Typically used as a 3-10% solution (w/v). Disrupts cellular structures in yeast and alters cellular morphology in HeLa cells.

Preparing Stock Solutions

The following data is based on the product molecular weight 118.18. Batch specific molecular weights may vary from batch to batch due to the degree of hydration, which will affect the solvent volumes required to prepare stock solutions.

Select a batch to recalculate based on the batch molecular weight:
Concentration / Solvent Volume / Mass 1 mg 5 mg 10 mg
1 mM 8.46 mL 42.31 mL 84.62 mL
5 mM 1.69 mL 8.46 mL 16.92 mL
10 mM 0.85 mL 4.23 mL 8.46 mL
50 mM 0.17 mL 0.85 mL 1.69 mL

Molarity Calculator

Calculate the mass, volume, or concentration required for a solution.

*When preparing stock solutions always use the batch-specific molecular weight of the product found on the vial label and SDS / CoA (available online).

Reconstitution Calculator

The reconstitution calculator allows you to quickly calculate the volume of a reagent to reconstitute your vial. Simply enter the mass of reagent and the target concentration and the calculator will determine the rest.

Dilution Calculator

Calculate the dilution required to prepare a stock solution.
