Methylprednisolone is a glucocorticoid receptor (GR) agonist. Displays anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Attenuates apoptosis in oligodendrocytes after injury stimuli. Upregulates expression of Bcl-xL via direct binding of the GR/STAT5 complex. Neuroprotective.
