Biological Activity

Free radical scavenger and antioxidant; second generation lazaroid that inhibits iron-dependent lipid peroxidation (IC50 = 1.5 μM). Displays neuroprotective activity in a mouse head injury model (MHI) and causes a reduction in cyanide-induced cell death in rat cortical neurons.
