Quipazine dimaleate
Chemical Name:2-(1-Piperazinyl)quinoline dimaleate
Biological Activity:
Selective 5-HT3 receptor
agonist. Also displays antagonist activity at peripheral 5-HT3
receptors. [3H]-Quipazine labels 5-HT3 sites in the
cortical membranes.

5-hydroxytryptamine-induced depolarization of the rat isolated vagus nerve.
Br.J.Pharmacol. 90 229. Peroutka and Hamik (1988) [3H]Quipazine
labels 5-HT3 recognition sites in rat cortical membranes.

neuroblastoma cells and rat cerebral cortex using [3H]-quipazine and
[3H]-GR65630 binding. Br.J.Pharmacol. 102 919.
Selective 5-HT7 receptor antagonist that displays > 100-fold selectivity over a range of other receptors. Reverses the hypothermic effect of 5-CT in mice following i.p. administration.
