Biological Activity

Novel non-peptide galanin GAL₁ and GAL₂ receptor agonist (K_i values are 11.7 and 34.1 μM respectively). Stimulates insulin release in isolated pancreatic islets from normal and diabetic rats. Systemically active in vivo; displays anticonvulsant activity following i.p. administration in mice. Central and peripheral administration also transiently inhibits food intake in rats and mice.
