MAP kinase signaling is integral to the regulation of numerous cellular processes such as proliferation and differentiation, and as a result is an important focus of cancer and immunology research. Updated for 2016, this review discusses the regulation of the MAPK pathway and properties of MAPK cascades. Compounds available from Tocris are listed.
Review excerpt: Mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) networks are critical for the transmission of extracellular signals into appropriate intracellular responses. Prototypical MAPK activation employs a three-kinase core module consisting of a MAPK kinase kinase (MAPKKK or MAP3K) that phosphorylates and activates a MAPK kinase (MAP2K, MEK, or MKK) that in turn phosphorylates and dramatically increases the activity of one or more MAPKs.Request copy | Download PDF | View all reviews
